May 18 marked the Bay City Cooperative Market’s Annual Meeting, which included a pot-luck dinner and presentation. The event was well-attended, and owners participated in voting in some new (and one returning) board member.
Returning this year is our current vice-president, Christa Schubert. Christa is a teacher at Handy Middle School and is very involved in the community. She has been a supporter of BCCM for several years, and is instrumental in marketing the co-op. Joining us this year are Kathryn Miller, facilitator of the Great Lakes Bay Coffee Chat Collective. You may have seen Kathryn’s coffee chats popping up in Bay City, Saginaw, Midland and Mt. Pleasant. Also new to the board is Jon Potrykus, professional musician. Jon works in the healing practices field in Saginaw and Bay City. Bronte Miller also joins the board. Bronte is a graphics specialist and has contributed her talents to our outreach and marketing efforts.
Infused with this new energy, the BCCM Board of Directors is excited about moving forward and making our full-service, cooperative grocery store a reality. We would like to thank these owners for stepping up to volunteer their time and talent. To that end, our board will be participating in a training workshop June 16th with Jacqueline Hannah, Assistant Director of the national Food Co-op Initiative. Jacqueline will also be on hand to speak to media while she is here, promoting BCCM and talking with folks in the community about how co-ops enhance communities.
Special thanks to Andrew Rogers for taking this featured group photo at the Annual Meeting!
